About CDI

The CANADIAN DOOR INSTITUTE was formed in 1971, and incorporated as a non-profit trade-association in 1975, to serve the interests of member-firms engaged in the upward-acting door industry.The association is fully funded by the membership,and is dedicated to the improvement of the door industry.

It is a national organization with chapters across Canada, and membership is open to manufacturers, distributors, installer companies (dealers) and suppliers, of upward acting door products, and related items.

The association is holding monthly Business-Meetings at various locations (e.g. Ontario,Quebec, B.C.) , as well as social meetings with dinner, followed with a brief business portion, and a guest-speaker on items of general-or special interest, and/or technical seminars on Overhead Doors, Operators, and Controls.

Through it's committees, the association offers the following programs for members only:

  • A comprehensive TRAINING/CERTIFICATION PROGRAM for Door Installers/Service Persons , in 3 levels, for Residential and Industrial Doors.
  • A Business Insurance Program, by GENTECH INSURANCE.
  • Regional Trade-Shows, or Conventions, across Canada.
  • Regional Technical Seminars on O.H.Doors,Operators,e.t.c.
  • Annual Conventions in participation with I.D.A. (International Door Association) in various locations across North-America.
  • DOOR & OPERATOR INDUSTRY bi-monthly magazine.
  • Fuel Program
  • Mark's Work Wearhouse Program
  • Cintas Uniforms Program
